Sustainability
The idea that goods and services should be produced in ways that do not use resources that cannot be replaced and that do not damage the environment.
in Cambridge Dictionary
Sustainability has been part of my life, since an early age. It was part of my family’s culture as individuals with not only responsible consumption but also responsible production, as the organic food produced for self-consumption. Reusing, recycling and remanufacturing has always been a part of our lifestyle.
While studying the Economics degree, I was introduced to Sustainable Economic Development by some professors. Back then, it seemed a model only at reach to UN officials. But it stayed with me. Quite often I felt left out amongst those who fiercely adopted and continue adopting the linear growth model, forgetting about the environmental and social impact of its activity. The day I found a wider community of Sustainability’s practitioners, not only at business level but also at personal level, I was a happier person.
Increasingly more people, businesses and governments are taking bolder actions in tackling Climate Change by investing Sustainably, changing therefore the economic growth model, to decouple it from the linear use of resources.
This blog aims to shade some more light into the topic and, hopefully, enlarge the Sustainability community, so we all contribute to make the Planet healthier by limiting global warming through our actions.
Warmly,
